Morningside 567

Residential, Historic Preservation | Miami, FL

A full renovation and thoughtful expansion of a contributing residence in the Morningside Historic District, this project balances preservation with a renewed architectural clarity. The original structure is carefully restored and complemented by a two-story addition that respects the scale, proportion, and material language of the historic home, allowing new and existing elements to read as a cohesive whole.
Subtle detailing and controlled ornament reinforce the home’s character, while updated openings and spatial reorganization support contemporary living.

A new accessory dwelling is introduced as a secondary structure, maintaining the hierarchy of the site while enhancing its functionality. The landscape strategy weaves together old and new, layering native and tropical planting to create a lush, immersive setting that frames the architecture and softens the transition between built form and garden.
