The design of this home reconsiders a non-contributing structure within the Morningside Historic District, using a measured two-story addition to establish a more cohesive and intentional architectural identity.
Drawing from elements found throughout the neighborhood—arches, stonework, and circular openings—the intervention reinterprets familiar motifs through a more restrained and contemporary lens. Clean lines and simplified volumes introduce a subtle Streamline Moderne influence, allowing the home to bridge past and present without relying on imitation.

The composition is organized to balance solidity and openness, with articulated facades that create depth, rhythm, and moments of relief. Openings are carefully placed to frame views and bring natural light deep into the interior, while maintaining a sense of privacy along the street. Toward the rear, the architecture opens to a layered outdoor environment where terraces, planting, and water define a sequence of spaces for gathering and retreat. The result is a home that aligns with its context while offering a refreshed approach to scale, form, and contemporary living.
